Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions outline the agreement between Jorge Criado ("Chef") and the client ("Client") for private chef services, catering, and cooking classes. By booking a service, the Client agrees to these terms.

2. Services Provided

The Chef agrees to provide private dining experiences, meal preparation, event catering, and cooking classes at the Client’s specified location or, if agreed otherwise, at the location specified by the Chef.

3. Reservation & Payment

To confirm any service (private dinner, brunch, cooking class, catering, yacht experience), a 100% upfront payment is required. No date is considered reserved until payment has been received in full.

 

Accepted payment methods:

  • Credit or debit card (via website checkout)

  • Stripe

  • Bank transfer (US or MX accounts)

  • Wise

  • Other methods previously agreed in writing

 

All prices are listed in USD unless stated otherwise.

Bookings are not transferable to another person.

4. Reschedule & Change

Each booking may be rescheduled once.

 

  • Changes or reschedules requested more than 72 hours before the service date are free of charge.

  • Any change requested within 72 hours of the service will incur a 25% rescheduling fee, subject to availability.

 

A rescheduled experience must be used within 45 days from the original date.

After 45 days, the credit expires and no refunds apply.

5. Cancellation & Refund

All sales are final and non-refundable due to ingredient sourcing, logistics, staff coordination, and transportation.

 

  • No refunds apply if the service is canceled less than 72 hours in advance.

  • If the cancellation is made more than 3 days before the scheduled experience, the client may reschedule and use the credit within the 45-day window.

 

If the client does not reschedule within the allowed time, the booking is forfeited.

 

No refunds apply for:

  • Guest no-shows

  • Client lateness

  • Venue changes

  • Weather conditions

  • Travel delays

  • External factors outside the chef’s control

6. Menu Adjustments & Dietary Requirements

Menu adaptations (vegan, gluten-free, halal, allergies, etc.) must be requested at least 48 hours in advance.

 

Some substitutions may involve an additional fee depending on availability and ingredient cost.

7. Location & Transportation

The base price includes transportation within Playa del Carmen.

 

For locations outside Playa del Carmen (Cancún, Mayakoba, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Secreto, Tulum, Akumal, etc.), an additional transportation fee applies.

 

Any parking, entry, or security fees charged by the venue must be covered by the client.

8. Kitchen Requirements & Equipment Rentals

Clients must ensure the cooking space is adequate for preparation and service, including:

  • A functioning kitchen or working area

  • Access to electricity and water

  • Permission to access and operate inside the venue

 

If the kitchen lacks equipment or is limited, the chef offers optional equipment rentals, such as:

  • Portable induction burners

  • Professional electric grill or flat-top

  • Full cooking equipment kit (knives, pans, utensils)

  • Table styling and plating equipment (plates, décor, candles, boards)

 

Rental fees vary depending on the equipment and may require additional setup time.

 

If equipment is limited, the menu will be adapted accordingly.

9. Guest Count Changes

Guest count changes must be communicated at least 72 hours before the event.

 

  • If the number of guests decreases, no refunds apply.

  • If the number increases, additional guests must be paid in full before the event.

10. Arrival Time & Service Duration

The chef and assistant typically arrive 60 to 120 minutes before service, depending on the menu and setup.

 

Service duration is usually 2 to 4 hours.

Additional service time requested onsite may incur an extra fee.

11. Damages & Liability

The chef is not responsible for damages caused by guests or for accidents occurring inside the client’s property.

 

The client is responsible for providing a safe working environment.

12. Photo & Media Use

By booking, the client authorizes the chef to take photos or short videos of the food, table setup, and cooking process for marketing purposes.

Guest faces will never be shown without explicit permission.

13. Weather Policy

For outdoor events, if weather conditions prevent the planned setup, the service will be adapted indoors when possible.

No refunds apply due to weather-related changes.

14. Food safety, health & allergy disclaimer

Chef Jorge Criado follows professional food handling, hygiene, and safety standards at all times.

However, by booking the service, the client acknowledges and agrees that:

 

  • Food is prepared in a private setting, not a commercial restaurant kitchen

  • Consumption of food is at the client’s and guests’ own risk

  • The chef is not responsible for adverse reactions caused by undisclosed allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions


The client is solely responsible for informing the chef of all allergies, intolerances, medical conditions, or dietary restrictions of any guest at least 48 hours in advance.

The chef shall not be held liable for allergic reactions, food sensitivities, or health issues arising from incomplete, inaccurate, or late information provided by the client.

15. Assumption of Risk

By participating in the experience, the client and guests voluntarily assume all risks associated with:
 

  • Consumption of food and beverages

  • Use of shared dining spaces

  • Outdoor or indoor service environments

  • Any optional interactive elements (cooking classes, tastings, etc.)


The client agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Chef Jorge Criado from any claims, injuries, illnesses, or damages resulting from participation in the experience, except in cases of proven gross negligence.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Chef Jorge Criado’s total liability for any claim arising from the service shall not exceed the total amount paid by the client for the specific service booked.

Under no circumstances shall the chef be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of enjoyment, travel expenses, or accommodation costs.

17. Force Majeure

Chef Jorge Criado shall not be held responsible for failure or delay in performance due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:
 

  • Natural disasters

  • Severe weather

  • Power outages

  • Government restrictions

  • Road closures

  • Illness or emergency situations


In such cases, the service may be rescheduled subject to availability, but no refunds apply.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

​This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Mexico, specifically the laws applicable in the State of Quintana Roo, regardless of the client’s country of residence.

Any dispute, claim, or legal action arising from or related to the services provided shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Quintana Roo, Mexico.

20. Agreement

These Terms & Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the client and Chef Jorge Criado and supersede any prior discussions, messages, or agreements, whether written or verbal.

 

By booking any service with Chef Jorge Criado, the client confirms acceptance of all Terms & Conditions listed above.
